π° The Money Mistake That Keeps You From Becoming Wealthy
Sep 30, 2026What if the biggest thing stopping you from becoming wealthier isn't your income?
What if it's your money mindset? π§
We often believe that earning more money will automatically solve our financial problems. But what happens when more money comes in and somehow disappears? πΈ
Or when a great opportunity appears and we convince ourselves that we're not ready for it?
The truth is, our relationship with money can influence the way we receive opportunities, manage what we have, and create value.
In our work around money mindset, we often see three levels of mindset: π
π΄ The Refusal Trap
π The Leaking Bucket Trap
π’ The Value-Adding Mindset
Let's explore each one. π
1οΈβ£ The Refusal Trap: Are You Refusing to Receive? π βοΈ
Let's say someone tells you:
"You're really good at this. Will you do it for me? I'll pay you."
And you immediately respond:
"No, no, it's okay. I'll do it for free."
Have you ever done that? π€
The opportunity to receive money was right in front of you, but you refused it.
The same thing can happen with much bigger opportunities.
You see a job opportunity but think:
"I'm probably not qualified."
You have an idea but think:
"I'm not good enough."
You want to start creating videos, write a book, or try something new, but tell yourself:
"I can't do that."
And so you don't even try.
That's what we call the Refusal Trap—a mindset that can cause us to reject opportunities before we've even given ourselves a chance.
βοΈ Try This Exercise
Take a notebook and complete this sentence:
“I can't make money because…”
Write down every reason that comes to mind.
Don't stop after one or two.
Keep going until you feel like you've run out of reasons.
Then do something important:
π Question those reasons.
Instead of automatically believing every limitation your mind gives you, ask:
“Is this actually true?”
The purpose isn't to pretend that every obstacle is imaginary.
It's to become aware of the beliefs that may be stopping you from taking action.
2οΈβ£ The Leaking Bucket Trap: When Money Comes In but Doesn't Stay πΈπͺ£
Now let's say you've moved beyond refusing opportunities.
Money comes in.
But it doesn't stay.
You receive a bonus—and suddenly your car needs a repair. π
You receive some extra money—and an unexpected expense appears.
You save some money—and before long, you've spent it.
This is what we describe as the Leaking Bucket Trap.
Think about a bucket filled with water. πͺ£
It doesn't matter how much water you pour into it if there are holes at the bottom.
The same principle can apply to money.
If our financial habits continually create leaks, simply earning more may not solve the underlying problem.
Sometimes the leak is unnecessary spending.
Sometimes it's taking loans or using credit for things we can't comfortably afford.
Sometimes it's simply not having a clear plan for the money we receive.
So here's a question we want you to start asking: π
Instead of:
β “How can I enjoy my money more?”
ask:
β “How can I multiply my money more?”
That question shifts our attention toward managing and growing what we already have. π
3οΈβ£ The Value-Adding Mindset: Create More Value π±
Now we come to the third level.
Instead of constantly asking:
β “How do I make more money?”
or
β “How do I spend more money?”
we ask:
π “How do I add more value to people's lives?”
This is a completely different way of looking at money.
π‘ What problem can I solve?
π‘ What skill can I develop?
π‘ What can I create?
π‘ How can I make someone's life easier, better, faster, or more meaningful?
The idea is simple:
When you create value for others, you create opportunities to receive value in return. π°
That's why we encourage people to shift their focus from simply making money to creating value.
Instead of asking:
"How can I get more?"
start asking:
“What can I give that creates genuine value?” β€οΈ
π So, Where Are You Right Now?
Take a moment and honestly ask yourself:
π βοΈ Are you in the Refusal Trap?
Are you saying no to opportunities before you even try?
πͺ£ Are you in the Leaking Bucket Trap?
Is money coming into your life but consistently flowing back out?
π Or are you developing a Value-Adding Mindset?
Are you focused on solving problems, creating opportunities, and adding value to other people's lives?
There is no need to judge yourself for your answer.
The first step is simply awareness. π§
Once you identify the pattern, you can start taking action. π
βοΈ Your Money Mindset Exercise
Take 10 minutes today and write down:
1οΈβ£ What opportunities have I been refusing?
2οΈβ£ Where is my money currently leaking?
3οΈβ£ What value can I create for others?
4οΈβ£ What is one financial action I can take today?
Don't just read these questions.
Write the answers. π
Because awareness becomes powerful when we turn it into action. β‘
And sometimes, the biggest financial shift doesn't begin with a bigger paycheck.
It begins with a better question:
π “How can I add more value?”
That's where the journey begins. ππ°
