Lack Is Making You Settle for Less: How to Shift From Lack to Abundance 💰✨

Have you ever noticed that sometimes you have plenty in your life—and yet you still feel like something is missing?

You may have money in your account, but you still feel financially insecure.

You may be in a relationship, but still feel lonely or unloved.

You may have a successful career, but still feel that you aren't achieving enough.

You may have accomplished many things, but still feel that you're not confident or worthy.

This is what I want you to understand:

Shortage and lack are not the same thing.

And understanding that difference can completely change how you approach abundance.

💭 What Is Lack?

In simple terms, lack is the feeling of having less.

But that doesn't necessarily mean you actually have less.

Imagine two people who have the same amount of money.

One feels secure and satisfied.

The other constantly thinks:

"I don't have enough."

The financial situation may be similar, but the internal experience is completely different.

That's why I distinguish between shortage and lack.

Shortage is a situation.

Lack is a feeling.

You can have a genuine shortage and feel lack.

But you can also have a surplus and still feel lack.

And when lack becomes a repeated emotional pattern, it starts influencing the decisions you make, the opportunities you accept and the way you experience your achievements.

⚠️ How Lack Makes You Settle for Less

One of the biggest consequences of feeling lack is that you start accepting less than you deserve.

Why?

Because when you believe you have less, anything that comes your way can start looking good enough.

You may accept:

  • A relationship that doesn't fulfill you ❤️

  • A job that isn't right for you 💼

  • Opportunities you would normally question

  • Situations that don't match your values

  • Less than what you originally wanted

You aren't necessarily making a conscious decision to settle.

Sometimes, lack creates a sense of urgency that makes you accept too quickly.

⏳ Lack Makes You Hurry

Have you ever received an opportunity and immediately said yes?

Not because you carefully evaluated it.

But because something inside you said:

"Take it before it disappears."

That's another symptom of lack.

When you feel internally deprived, you can become overly eager to receive.

You don't stop and ask:

"Is this actually right for me?"

You simply think:

"At least I'm getting something."

That is why identifying lack is so important.

😔 The Biggest Problem: You Get It… and Then It Becomes Meaningless

This is perhaps the most frustrating pattern of lack.

You desperately want something.

You finally get it.

And then, after some time, it doesn't feel special anymore.

You wanted the relationship.

You got the relationship.

Then you started wanting something else.

You wanted the promotion.

You got the promotion.

Then another achievement became necessary.

You wanted more money.

You earned more money.

Then your mind immediately moved the definition of "enough."

Why does this happen?

Because the external achievement wasn't necessarily the real need.

There was a feeling underneath the goal that you were trying to experience.

And if you don't identify that feeling, you can keep chasing one external result after another.

That's how lack becomes a pattern.

🌱 Step 1: Identify Exactly Where You Feel Lack

The first step toward abundance is awareness.

Don't simply say:

"I feel lack in my life."

That's too vague.

Ask:

"Where exactly am I feeling lack?"

Is it:

💰 Money?

❤️ Love?

🤝 Support?

💼 Career?

📈 Business growth?

🎤 Confidence?

🏆 Achievement?

🏠 Security?

Be specific.

For example:

Instead of saying:

"I feel lack."

say:

"I feel lack of confidence when I'm asked to speak in a meeting."

Or:

"I feel lack of financial security when I think about my future."

Or:

"I feel lack of companionship when my partner is away."

Specificity gives you something you can actually work with.

❤️ Step 2: Identify the Feeling You Actually Want

Now comes the most important question.

Suppose you achieve the thing you want.

What will you feel?

If you get the job, what will you feel?

Maybe:

  • Confident

  • Secure

  • Accomplished

  • Proud

  • Satisfied

If you get married, what will you feel?

Maybe:

  • Loved

  • Connected

  • Supported

  • Complete

If you buy your own home, what will you feel?

Maybe:

  • Secure

  • Stable

  • Satisfied

  • Independent

Don't stop at the goal.

Go underneath the goal.

What feeling are you really trying to experience?

That is the need you want to identify.

✨ Step 3: Practice the Feeling Before the Result

Once you've identified the feeling, practice experiencing it now.

This is where you shift your attention from what is missing to what you want to feel.

Write:

"I already feel ______."

For example:

I already feel confident.

I already feel loved.

I already feel secure.

I already feel accomplished.

I already feel worthy.

You may initially think:

"But that's not true yet."

That's okay.

The purpose isn't to pretend that circumstances have magically changed.

The purpose is to practice accessing the emotional state you have been waiting for an external event to create.

If you can spend hours worrying about something that might happen in the future, you can also deliberately practice a more empowering emotional state.

🔁 Don't Practice It Only at Night

One of the biggest mistakes is treating this as a once-a-day exercise.

Lack can show up throughout the day.

So the practice needs to happen throughout the day too.

When you notice yourself thinking:

"I don't have enough."

Pause.

Ask:

What exactly am I feeling lack of?

Then:

What would I feel if I had it?

Then:

"I already feel ______."

Repeat the feeling.

Practice it.

Return to it.

The objective is to make the new emotional pattern more familiar.

🌙 Why Does Lack Feel Worse at Night?

Many people notice that their worries become louder at night.

During the day, you're busy.

You have work.

Meetings.

Family.

Messages.

Tasks.

Entertainment.

Your attention is constantly occupied.

Then nighttime arrives.

The distractions disappear.

And the emotions you've been carrying throughout the day become much more noticeable.

That's why I don't want you to wait until bedtime to deal with lack.

Deal with the emotional pattern during the day.

When you take care of the pattern throughout the day, nighttime can become much easier.

🧠 Build Evidence From Your Own Past

Here's an additional technique I use when an affirmation feels hollow.

Suppose you want to feel:

"I am accomplished and worthy."

But when you say it, something inside you responds:

"No, you're not."

Don't fight with yourself.

Instead, find evidence.

Think of five moments from your past when you accomplished something.

Maybe you:

  • Passed an important exam

  • Got a job you wanted

  • Bought something significant with your own money

  • Lost weight

  • Built a business

  • Helped someone

  • Overcame a difficult situation

  • Took a courageous decision

Now say:

"I am already accomplished."

"I am already worthy."

The statement feels different when your mind has evidence to connect it with.

And here's something fascinating:

If you desire a particular feeling, you've probably experienced that feeling before.

You know what chocolate tastes like because you've experienced it.

You know what happiness feels like because you've experienced it.

You know what confidence feels like because you've experienced it.

So instead of trying to create an entirely unfamiliar emotion, look for the moments when you've already experienced it.

Then practice reconnecting with that feeling.

🎯 What About Confidence?

Let's take a practical example.

Suppose you feel a lack of confidence during meetings when everyone is looking at you and expecting an answer.

Don't say:

"I have no confidence in meetings."

That's too general.

Find the specific moment.

"I felt a lack of confidence in that particular meeting when the spotlight was on me."

Then ask:

"What do I want to feel in that situation?"

Perhaps:

"I want to feel confident, articulate and comfortable."

Now find five examples from your past when you communicated confidently.

Maybe it was:

  • A conversation with a colleague

  • A family discussion

  • A property negotiation

  • A presentation

  • Another meeting where you weren't even fully prepared

Then practice:

"I already know what I need to say."

"I am comfortable speaking in this meeting."

This doesn't mean preparation is unnecessary.

Preparation still matters.

But sometimes the perceived shortage of preparation isn't the real issue.

The deeper issue is how you feel while you're in the situation.

🔗 Use an Anchor to Remember the Practice

But what happens when you're actually in the stressful situation?

You may remember the exercise afterward—but forget it in the moment.

That's where an anchor can help.

Choose something simple and consistent.

For example:

💍 Touch your ring.

🎧 Touch your headset.

👍 Touch your thumb and finger together.

Then associate that physical action with your three-step practice.

Whenever you touch your chosen anchor, remind yourself:

1️⃣ Where am I feeling lack?

2️⃣ What do I actually want to feel?

3️⃣ How can I practice that feeling right now?

With repetition, the physical cue becomes a reminder to return to the process.

🌟 Your 7-Day Lack-to-Abundance Challenge

I want you to practice this for seven days.

Every time you notice the feeling of lack, stop and ask:

Step 1 — Where is the lack?

Be specific.

Step 2 — What feeling do I want?

Go deeper than the external goal.

Step 3 — "I already feel ______."

Practice that feeling.

And if the statement feels unbelievable, find five examples from your past where you've already experienced that feeling.

Then repeat the practice.

Again.

And again.

And again.

💫 Abundance Begins With the Feeling

The purpose of this practice isn't to deny reality.

If there is a genuine shortage, take appropriate practical action.

But don't automatically assume that the shortage and the feeling of lack are the same thing.

You can work toward more money while practicing security.

You can build your career while practicing confidence.

You can seek a relationship while practicing love and connection.

You can pursue success while practicing accomplishment.

Don't wait for the external result to give you permission to experience the feeling you desire.

Identify the feeling.

Find evidence that you've experienced it before.

Practice it.

And keep returning to it throughout the day.

That's how you begin shifting from the habit of lack toward a more abundant internal experience. ✨
